The World’s Longest Golf Hole
David Sullivan of Creating Lifesavers will from 11 June 2021 be undertaking a mammoth ten-week charity challenge in which he hits a golf ball from John O’Groats to Land’s End. The funds raised will go to the British Heart Foundation and will help place life-saving defibrillators into villages, towns and cities up and down the country.
At every one of David’s 70 stops on his journey, he will be training individuals how to save lives with CPR.
David’s passion for teaching people CPR came about when he was faced with a life-or-death situation. When a stranger experienced a cardiac arrest in front of him, David, a former armed forces trainer, luckily knew what to do. He gave CPR for 17 minutes until the man was treated with a defibrillator. Thanks to David’s knowledge and the fact that a defibrillator was nearby, the man made a full recovery. It is now David’s mission to create an army of life savers by spreading the word about CPR and teach as many people as possible this life-saving skill.

Whilst this equipment cannot be successful in all cases of cardiac arrest, it gives clear verbal instruction once switched on and will never do any harm. The greatest avoidable risk is a bystander’s fear of becoming involved. Sudden death, even in young people, may therefore occur unnecessarily.
Organisations such as ‘Creating Lifesavers’ and events such as this will raise the awareness and required funds to increase the chances of survival by making AEDs more accessible should a cardiac arrest strike.
